I have only had broadband for a short while and it has been running fine. When I put the cable in, the computer is telling me that it is connected down the bottom, but I do not seem to get into the web pages. It tells me I am not connected.....Any help would be greatful. Thank you (I am using dial up at the moment)

After you diconnect your modem and connect the DSL then you need to reset your IP address so that the DSL modem can assign an IP address to your computer. To do that go to START, then PROGRAMS then ACCESSORIES and then COMMAND PROMPT ..at the command prompt type in IPCONFIG /RELEASE ... then IPCONFIG /RENEW

..then type in EXIT

..then try Internet explorer.
If you get PAGE NOT FOUND then with that page open select
TOOLS
..then INTERNET OPTIONS
then CONNECTIONS
..then at the top select SETUP
..then follow the setup wizard .. (set it up as a "Home or office Network")

..when you are done it should all work..
Good luck!

Do you have both a modem and a router? If so, try turning both OFF. Then turn on the modem and wait about 2 minutes, then turn on the router.

If this fixes it, then maybe your router isn't set to automatically reconnect?
