First, we need to keep in mind that two negatives equal a positive. So bascially, we can rewrite the above equation as:
-5.8 + 6.7 or.... 6.7 - 5.8 = 0.9

-5.8 - (-6.7)
subtracting a negative is the same as adding a positive
so your problem is really -5.8 + 6.7
which is .9

-5.8 - (-6.7) is the same as: -5.8 + 6.7
So: -5.8 - (-6.7) = .9
I'm sorry, I had a good explaination in my head but couldn't verbalize it. That's the correct answer, but for help I'd suggest asking your teacher.

i'm unsure what you're required to do. Guessing that that's to accomplish the multiplication, bear in concepts this rule: multiplying by ability of 10^n (the place n is an integer) strikes the decimal element... a) ...n places to the main appropriate if n is advantageous b) ...n places to the left if n is damaging. on your case, n=3, i.e. 5.67x1000 = 5.sixty seven x 10^3 = 5670.
