I put my son on stage 2 when he was 5 months old. its the same as stage 1 its jus in 4 oz. my son stayed hungry wit the stage one, so i bought him stage 2 and that worked. stage 3 is thicker and lumpier. my son is 8 months and eats stage 2 and stage 3.

Stage 2 are the same as Stage 1 in that they are very thin, all pureed with no lumps at all. Stage 2 fruits and veggies are the EXACT same thing as Stage 1, just a bigger jar. You can start them on stage 1 and the "simple" Stage 2 (plain fruits and veggies) at about the same time.....if you are giving them a blended stage 2 (two fruits, or mixed veggies), be sure they have had all the ingredients in in separately to check for allergies. Mine was about 6 months before I gave her the stage 2 dinners, etc.

I skipped Stage 3.......my daughter hated them. she gagged all the time. when she was ready to move on from Stage 2 I started grinding her food with a baby grinder. it is coarser than stage 2, but still easy to eat. after that we did forked mashed, then small bites of soft food. save your money and skip the Stage 3. Buy a food grinder instead.

Mine was six months, but all babies are different. If he's able to handle lumpier foods he'll be fine. You could always mash a banana so there are some little chunks in it. If he does fine with that he'll do fine with the stage 2's. Also, at the stage two's I'd puree the dinner i fixed in a food processor (even a blender will work). The little Cuisinart preps are just the right size.

This will get him used to new tastes early on.

I started mine on stage 2 at about six months. He is nine months now and I just started him on stage three. Stage two is really thin like stage one I think the biggest difference is there is more in the container. Maybe its not as watered down and you find more mixed fruit like prunes and apples or strawberries and bananas. To started getting him ready for stage three I would mix alot of it with cereal so he could get used to something a little thicker. My Pediatrician said that we were right on track. Hope that I helped. Congrats on the new baby!!

You aren't supposed to start solids at all until 6 months, and then one at a time, giving a week or so in between, to ensure there is no allergic reaction.

We skipped stage 2 all together, as my ds hates the texture of jarred foods. He eats certain adult foods mashed/cut up.
