Henry Wriston, the father of future Citicorp Bank CEO Walter Wriston said, "total war calls for industrial power and business efficiency fully as much as for fighting men and an aggressive spirit. It suddenly becomes clear that government need business and needs it desperately. There can be no doubt that harassment of business impedes the war effort".

Now I hear a lot of people talking about supporting our troops yet no one seems to mention that we need to support our big business interests too.

Maybe in some way, the war is supporting their business interests, I don't know. But if tax cuts and more business friendly policies could help companies like Haliburton help us win the war, shouldn't we give it a try?

Our economy is currently running just fine. Inflation is low, wages are up, the stock market is up, and still the Democrats try to lie about everything.
Tax breaks or rather reductions from excessive taxation frees up the economic engine and creates wealth for everyone that works or owns stock. Those people too lazy to work and who spend all their resources on drugs and alcohol will never benefit from anything except taxation. That is the group of people Democrats cater to.
This country's wealth, the result of the productivity of businesses and investors, has made this country the target of every downtrodden person in the world, trying to better their life. In the mean time, the Democrats want to take us in a NEW direction!
Wow, I hope not!

What we need are dramatic tax increases to win the war. Due to the Republicans raising govt discretionary spending by 40% the last 12 years, we are in a dangerous position once tax reciepts slow as we will be unable to fund the war. As the economy slows--we had our worst real estate month last month and corp profit growth is slowing to +9% this quarter--we must raise taxes to fund our Monster govt and the war. The Asians will not loan us 5x our current national debt once our debt swells due to slowing tax receipts. Republicans absolutely want a much bigger govt and to give enormous entitlements (e.g, sr drug plan) so they need to be honest and double the tax rate at least. They have been dishonest in growing govt rapidly and lowering taxes. They must raise taxes rapidly and soon so we can afford to win this war!

win the war with tax cuts? that is about like "we are going to balance the budget with tax cuts". maybe we should do away with taxes , altogether. we would have an overflowing budget surplus and be unstoppable militarily.

i dont like taxes either but, some are necessary for the services we recieve from the govt. also we, somehow , need to pay china back all of the money that we borrowed from them.

Being in the army, tax breaks would only hurt the "effort". But either way the war won't be won due to our president G. dubaya Bush!

Haliburton has NO INTEREST in helping us win the war; they would prefer that it GO ON FOREVER so that they can keep collecting their profits. Big business does NOT CARE about our national welfare...it cares only about BIG BUSINESS!

Yes, tax breaks should be given to all companies to promote growth, investment in technology and lower unemployment.
