What would you say are the main differences between a Sociologist, a Historian, and a Journalist?

They are three different disciplines

A journalist is a person who practices journalism, the gathering and dissemination of information about current events, trends, issues and people.

An historian is someone who writes history, a written accounting of the past. If events precede recorded history, the term is prehistory.

Sociologists study society and social action by examining the groups and social institutions people form, as well as various social, religious, political, and business organizations. They also study the social interactions of people and groups, trace the origin and growth of social processes, and analyze the influence of group activities on individual members and vice versa.

In essence the Historian writes about the PAST the Journalist writes about the PRESENT and the other Sociologist writes about the FUTURE or how it should be.

A sociologist makes an effort to apply pseudo-scientific methods to groups of people in an insane attempt to study and quantify the irrational masses.

The historian records the deeds and misdeeds of the masses, as they see it, after the fact.

The journalist is paid good money to slant, bend or twist the story into it's ultimate most spectacular rendition conceivable. Truth has no part in a journalists bag of scandalous tricks

journalists study more fluid issues with a general population as target population. sociologists comparatively study issues across cultures, socio-economic status, gender, race, etc., but not typically comparing time periods (with the exception of sociologists of history). historians study things that happened in the past. historians who compare to current issues are nearer to sociologists than other types.
