Art is that which is made with the primary intention of stimulating the human senses as well as the human mind or spirit.

Art is love.

An artwork is normally assessed by means of the amount of stimulation it brings about. The impact it has on people, the amount of people that can relate, the degree of their appreciation, and the effect or influence it has or has had in the past, all accumulate to the 'degree of art'. Timeless masterpieces in art all possess these aspects to a great extent.

Something is not considered 'art' when it stimulates only the senses, or only the mind, or when it has a different primary purpose than doing so.

Art is whatever someone is willing to buy. The more people that want it the higher the cost and the more it's worth....

Most art I see in an art gallery is crap and I wouldnt pay $5 for it...doesnt take a genius to splash some paint onto a canvas...but if someone is willing to pay $5 million then it's worth that much.

Art is in the eye of the of the person spending the money...

I DO , i know art when i see it and blobs of paint on a paper is not art nor is painting 3 straight lines on a wall.
the only real art is art that manages to look so real you would think it was a photo. the way to tell a good artist from a crap one is too have them paint a pic of a person with the hands showing. the better the hands the better the picture.
snobs with more money then sense think the more somethink looks like nothing the more its worth but thats crap.

To me art is the same as feelings. I love to draw but what motivates is to put what is in my head or what I feel onto something I can share with others.

Too many people like to classify this and that and that is not art or this is not art. That seems to me more like either jealousy or stupidity.

Art can be distinguished from Non-Art by certain small group of individuals whose business it is. Neither the "artist" not the receiver is capable of deciding what is or what isn't art.

It's all subjective. It's like asking, "what is beauty," and we all know that it's in the eye of the beholder, and art, being a form of beauty is also in the eye of the beholder. Someone may put paint on their butt, press it to the canvas, leave a colorful butt-print and call it a masterpiece. You see, it's one of those questions that doesn't have a definite answer.

Art is what the beholder sees. So, whoever is looking at the piece of works determines if it is art.
