'hate' speech, sexist or racist speech is prohibited, for example so how free is free speech what are the limitations? and if there is limitations, and there are, why label it as free speech, or pretend or put up the facade that we have the right to free speech here in America? Does that amendment really mean anything at all if we can be prosecuted or punished for exercising our so called right to it, especially with unpopular speech...?

You misunderstand the word free in that phrase. You are in fact free (as in "at liberty") to say whatever you want. You are not in fact free to say whatever you want at no cost to yourself.

As for hate, sexist or racist speech being prohibited; would you please tell me where it is prohibited? I seem to hear/see & read
a lot of it so who is prohibiting it?
If you say hateful, sexist or recist things to an individule without proof, you can be sued in a court of law. Since I can't think of a racist thing you can say to someone & prove it without proving you are the racist. Guess that leaves that one out.
For the most part, I would say that you can say almost anything without any problem; except with the person you are saying it about, they might have a problem with it!

I would say to be accurate there is no free speech anywhere in the world. There is limited speech and some countries limit it more than others. The usa is the best but they also limit it.
Why even here on yahoo answers they limit it. Earlier I went to say some guy was just saying gobbbly guk but replace the u in guk with two o's like this g oo k and it won't let you type it in. lol.

Seems like people on both sides of the aisle are all for free speech...as long as you agree with them.
Classifying something as "hate speech" is plain stupid. What, every time you say something that offends someone, you're guilty of hate speech? Alert the Thought Police! LOL
Neo-cons get on you if you criticize the government, and liberals get on you if you're not PC. I don't care what they think. I'll say it how it is...or at least how I perceive the matter.

Your right to free speech ends were my right to live without fear begins.
You have the right of free speech but that does not give you the right to yell Fire! in a crowded theater. You are confusing freedom of speech with the debauchery of it.

Not as free as you think. Yousay the wrong things and you could wind up in jail. This is the reality of the so called free speech.

No, there really isn't. Standards make it so that anything inciting riots is illegal. So it may be your "free speech" but it isn't allowed. Whether this is right or not is debatable, and I'd love to talk about it, but no, "freedom is never free."

There is freedom of speech in the United States as long as it is not against the law, morals and public order.
