went to the er and they said I chipped my hip. MRI revealed buldging disks from L2-S1, radial tear L5-S1 and possible pinched nerve. Have tried epidural, cortisone injections, therapy, acupuncture, chiro. No true relief from anything and surgeons said they would not touch my back. Doc now wants me to try SI Injection.... ANY ONE HAD ONE? ANY RELIEF?

an SI injection is almost the same as an epidural but into the SacroIlliac joint. I have seen neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, physiatrist (non surgical dr) physical therapist. All in all over 10 doctors
ever since the injury I have been on Vicodin but no more than 2 a day and currently 1/2 a day. Doc will not prescribe more and work comp will not let me see another doc

I have similar back/hip problems and had an SI injection a little over a year ago. The relief came a couple days after the injection and I was almost pain free for about 6 months. It was a great help for me. Since the pain has come back, I would like to have another SI injection, but there doesn't seem to be an orthopedist in the area where I now live who does these injections. I would definitely try the SI injection, it was the only thing that gave me relief. Before I tried the SI injection, I tried physical therapy, oral cortisone medication, heat, and electronic muscle stimulation. None of those things relieved my pain like the SI injection.

I don't know what an SI injection is. I have problems with my back and have had the epidural injection which did not last. I am going to a pain specialist - have you tried a physician of this type to help you? Right now the only relief I get as my pain is also in my hands, feet, toes fingers is a drug called Vicodin. Sometimes an antidepressant or antipsychotic drug that is used for depression but is also used for pain is good but so far the ones I've taken have either made me mean as a snake or so looped out but I'm very entertaining even though I'm looped. I have a drawer full of pills that I can't take. I wish you well - please explain what an SI injection is,

Well it looks like you've covered all bases, Now its up to you to make the decision. I'm not sure what SI injections are. Maybe you can go on MD.com and see if you can find some feed back from people who have had it.

You need to be firm with the workman's comp carrier. You can see another doctor. You have the right to a second opinion. I did. First doctor was totally not compassionate. Horrible experience. I threatened an attorney intervention and I got my second opinion. With this type injury you are probably going to have to have an attorney. Good luck.
