The Year of the Pig and Islam?

Today begins the Year of the Pig, according to the Chinese 12 year cycle. This is a major holiday in China; many people get 2 weeks off work, and there are many elaborate celebrations. But the Chinese government this year has banned of pig images on TV advertisements, out of respect for Islam.
Why do you think China is doing this?

I think China is going overboard Little .They make it seem like we literally hate pigs. Are they slow or what? We don't hate them we just don't eat them. I mean showing pigs on TV is insulting? Give me a break. they can make the year of the pig and we can be happy with them just don't shove the pig down our throat that's the only thing we don't do, is eating pork.

They are trying to respect the culture of any people who are Islamic believers. They don't want to discriminate, or favor other religions or people. In Islam, pigs aren't as important, and they don't want to be disrespectful. Yahoo! has an article about this.

"While the pig is beloved by the Chinese, the animal is offensive to Muslims, who consider it unclean. For that reason, Chinese New Year celebrations have to be handled with care in Malaysia and Indonesia, mainly Muslim countries with large ethnic Chinese minorities."

Plus in the U.S, the government and companies don't want to favor religions over others. That's why many people say "Happy Holidays", Instead of "Merry Christmas" because that person may not be christian, and celebrate Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa.

Asalam Alaikum i'm not sure sis. Mice and rats are haram so i don't understand if a guinea could fall under that classification or not. Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (could Allaah be happy with them the two) narrated that Hafsah suggested: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and advantages of Allaah be upon him) suggested: “There are 5 animals for which there's no blame on the single which kills them: crows, kites (hawk-like birds), mice/rats, scorpions and mad canines.” Narrated via al-Bukhaari, 1828. do you know that most bacon comes from males pigs
thier testicals are removed
so they taste as if edible ,.
were they not thus treated [or perhaps thus maltreated they would taste gamey ?whatever that means ;read it as smelling unclean]
why so much salt used [to hide the taste]
or to violate the salt oath ?

This is just scary. Muslims comprise less than 2 percent of the population, yet they are afraid of terrorist attacks. Someone has to stop the Islamists, but I'm afraid it's too late for Europe, Russia, Canada and now China. Sad.
