lol. They don't actually take chimps (or other monkeys for that matter) to outer space... reason: not enough space, training, costs, behaviour, etc.
As for the psychological, I think that they just have to be really focused on successfully completing their mission. Astronauts usually go outer space to fix a damaged satellite or something. Certainly no horseplaying or fooling around when they've got an important mission.

If a chimp gets out of control up there, they coax it into the air lock and open the outer door. Just like in Alien.

They figure if your are crazy enough to kidnap, plot a killing, and where a diaper while driving across country then you are the right stuff for hopping aboard a tin can loaded with explosives propelling yourself a couple hundred miles off this earth.
