if the score is the same for both teams after overtime (nobody can score in overtime)

In the regular season if each team fails to score at the end of one overtime than it is a tie. Post season is unlimited overtime but it is still the first to score wins

After the 4 quarters are completed, If the two teams are tied,they go to overtime. -Each team gets 2 timeout in the overtime period- A 15 min Overtime is then played as a "Sudden Death"...IE- First team to score wins,End of game.Weather it takes 30 sec or 14 min.A coin flip before overtime determines who kicks off.
If neither team scores in the period,TIE GAME.
Also, in overtime if a team scores a touchdown, NO extra point is tried.

This applies to the regular season only. If after regulation and a 15:00 overtime period, the score remains the same, the game is final with the score tied.

it is very rare if a game in the NFL is tied. there can only be a tie if nobody scores in overtime.

In the regular season after overtime the teams will tie, there is no double or triple overtime. In the playoffs it is different there are unlimited overtimes which is pretty rare.

If nobody scores in OT it is a tie. Except in the playoffs where they will keep going til somebody scores.

if both teams have the same score after overtime. this can only happen in the regular season, there no ties in the playoffs.
