One of my mice is white with broken black stripes and a solid black bottom. I also believe he is long haired:

The other has a "calico" pattern with a white head spot:

Is this a what they call a brindle mouse?

I'm interested in breeding mice in the future, and I was wondering if anyone would know how this affects their genetics and that of their offspring (which of their traits are dominant/recessive).

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

The first is simply black and white or parti-color if you prefer. He's not long haired, just longer than the second one. The second is brindle with white. Brindle is the part with the red and black intermingled, but the white must be accounted for separately as brindle is not normally broken up.

Hi, your mice look very sweet indeed.

Here are some websites that you might enjoy or find useful.

Site about mice colours - click on the links to see photos:
http://www.afrma.org/fancyrm.htm#fmice
From that site your first mouse could be a 'broken marked' & the other one ... umm, what do you think - an 'ACOP' possibly a 'splashed' with white? There is a photo of a brindle too on the page. To be honest, your little one looks much brighter (& prettier) than the photos of brindles

This site is all about Brindle mouse & breeding brindles:
http://www.tarotrats1.homestead.com/brindle.html

This site also has photos of colour varieties:

Website of someone really into mice & breeding them:
http://www.thefunmouse.com/

Loads of information - including stuff about lethal genes
http://goto.glocalnet.net/natal/mus/mouse.htm

This site looks really informative - the coat colors of mice - I think its all about genetics & everything - really indepth - probably useful if you really get into breeding:
