The above answerer is correct, the Allies won WWII. In fact some of them began the war in 1939, slightly over two years before the U.S. entered the war. On the other hand the major contributor to the war against the Axis was from the U.S. By percentage though the other allies contributed very large amounts of men and materials. So you can interpret this any you like.
The major strategy of the Anglo-American war effort was established by FDR and Churchill. It was to defeat Hitler first, he was considered the major threat. In the Pacific to fight a holding action against the Japanese until the European effort was completed. The European part of the war was largely U.S. after December 7th, 1941. But the U.S was heavily backed by forces of the British Empire (now known as the Commonwealth) Some other smaller contributors were the Free French, scattered units from Poland and other lands occupied by the Nazis.
The Pacific War was even more heavily a U.S. show. The strategy worked out was to begin taking islands back from the Japanese in an "island hopping" manner. Not to attempt to take each little island but to cut them off and let them die on the vine. The U.S. Navy was given the major responsibility to advance across the Central Pacific and the Army across the South Pacific.. That pattern lasted throughout the war in the Pacific.

the strategy was simple enough- the physical elimination of the enemy forces and of the ability of the enemy to build up new forces and/or repair/resupply damaged units. No fancy discussions about "rights" or "feelings". The enemy has a clear choice- surrender or face destruction.
In the end it worked far better than the methods used nowadays
