I know someone who is 19 and they are going out with a 17 year old. I heard somewhere that the law says if its within 3 years then its ok, but someone else told me it wasn't. I would like to know the truth. Because they are worried about it.

It is perfectly legal for them to date as long as there is no sexual conduct if 17 is considered underage within that state.

Where do you live? Different states and countries have different laws on age of consent. Some states even have an age of 18 for consent. I don't know who you heard that 3 year rule from, but that's not correct. If that was the case, then 27 year olds would be charged with dating 24 year olds.

But all in all, tell your friends not to worry about it. The only way these charges are brought up are from the parents. A cop won't even bother if he sees them walking down the street holding hands. I mean, he's got bigger things to worry about, like firearms on the street, right?

if you are in australia, if the girl is under 18, then there can only be a 2 year age difference (but she has to be over 16). so, if she is 16, the boy can be 18. if she is 17, the boy can be 19. once she is 18, it doesnt matter how old he is.

depending what state you are in, check out the criminal code or crimes act etc.

A 19 year old going out with a 17 year old has committed the crime of seduction because the latter is a minor under the law.

It varies by state, in some states AOC is 16 or , according to CSI Miami(assuming they verified the plot point) FL has a loophole allowing partners up to 24 if between 16-18.

18 is the national base line in regards to adult material, to ensure that all participants in adult entertainment are legal throught the country.(so a 16 yr old while legal in in one place is not depicted in porn in another where they would count as a felony)
