to answer you question..YES it is normal..for the first few months up to a year your periods will be thrown off..either longer one month...then nothing the next..then just spotting the month after that....

but friendly advice;
GET OFF THE SHOT NOW! IF YOU WANT TO HAVE CHILDREN WHEN YOU COME OFF OF IT. i suggest you go on the pill..the shot has soo manyt bad side effects....horrible weight gain...I have seen some people gain up to 40 pounds on it...I however only gained 10..and that was after 2 years of being on it.

I was on depo for 4 years and now I am having trouble conceiving..

it can take 6-9 months for you to get your period back after coming off depo then another year or more to conceive..and some women NEVER get their fertility back..

and if you are young..this may not seem like a big deal now..but it is..especially because you never know what is going to happen to you in life..you may in 3 years find the man of your dreams like I did and want to start a family..but oh no..you cant because of the birth control you started 3 years ago...so now you may have to wait 2 years or so to have a baby...it SUCK!

not to mention it can make you severly depressed
and can make you go crazy when you get off of it because your body is going into shock from over kill of hormones going back into your body

the depo shot prevents you from producing enough hormones to release a healthy egg..so it stops menstration...no egg...means no period...well when you come off the shot...your body starts producing hormones again so you will PMS 10 worse then you ever have...then on top of that you will have a higher chance of miscarriage because your body will slowly give off eggs...but they wont be completely healthy eggs because your body doesnt have enough hormones in it yet to hold a baby for 9 months..

and it will take you forever to lose the weight you will gain while being on it.

loss of sex drive is ANOTHER negative effect of the depo..and you wont be able to get wet anymore...forget it..you'll need tubes and tubes of KY.

so do yourself a favor and get off of it..and if you dont believe me..then research the shot for yourself.

The Depo shot will make your period's wacky. I don't think it's normal for it to last 21 day's. When I used Depo, I stopped having my periods. Even after I stopped getting the Depo shot I still didn't have a period for 3 and half years. You can still get pregnant if you don't have a period. Check with your Doctor. You need to be careful with Birth cdontrol, some of them will cause major problems.

I heard that it is normal for your first shot. Some people get their period for 3 months and some people don't get one at all. I guess it depends on the person. I knew someone that got their period for the first 2 months after getting the shot, then their next shot they didn't get their period at all...and she still doesn't get one and its been about 4 yrs.

Please don't take the shot!!! It is horrible!!!!! I am 27 and have osteoporosis, depo causes major bone loss and lots of serious problems!!
I was on it just over two years. Two years of it can sterilize you, too. I stopped taking it just before they put the black box warning on it. (which most Drs. won't tell you about!)
