While the broadcast media has had little effect on my personal expectations in a relationship, I believe that it has raised the standards of women to the point that it is almost impossible for me to form a relationship in the first place.

I still desire a mutually caring relationship with a woman but suspect that this will never occure.

Most television shows and movies showcase relationships between physically perfect individuals and illustrate the less then perfect as either the villain or as retards in need of sympathy, not people who are worthy of romantic interests.

I personally suffer from hematoma auris, a condition which has required the amputation of my right ear and has deformed some of the surrounding skin.

Since the media now tells women that they are entitled to a physically perfect "Prince Charming", virtually no women are willing to give me a second thought.

Definitely. Television isn't meant to show the work that people have to put into a good relationship. Plus, in this day of disposible everything, why wouldn't relationships be disposible too?

yes, most definately, because you tend to fall in love wtih the way someone is on television , and u tend to want your lover to be effectionate as a certain character on your t.v. show. and if some one tends to lyke a certain character on a sitcom, i mean if they are just crazy, about this actor, or actress they may even start trying to act as them. (poseing as someone there not, is what i lyke to call it). That could be a reason why people's relationships fall off, because its all pretend, its a fantasy world. Peoples lines get blurred bewtween reality and fantasy.

100% absolutely, I KNOW they DO!! and that adds to the people who think they're not happy and not normal. Look at Everybody Loves Raymond. I know every episode by heart. If that family was real, they would have killed each other by now------at least MOVED AWAY!!! I love movies too but I try not to "Believe in Them"!!! @8-)

I think that when I was little I learned about relationships and life thru TV and it warped me. I expected it to be more like TV. It took years to recover from that.

Not expectactions, but hopes. In either case, there is disappointment when neither are met.
