Sounds liked the failure was mechanical (stepper motor, arm, or read.write head. So NOT endanger your new computer if you move it over as a slave.
Usually, if the PC does not even see that the drive exist, there is no way to recover data without having the motor of the hard drive rebuild. Since that has to be done by a professional in a clean room, the cost to have it done runs between $2000 and $2500
Something you can try, if your new PC still does not recognize the drive exist...
Put in it a freezer bag to protect it from moisture, and then put it in the freezer overnight. (12-24 hours). Pull it out, plug it in, and try to access it while it is still cold.
Good luck....

The standard procedure for recovering data from dead hard drives is this:
1. Check to see if it works normally.
2. If not, try to freeze the hard drive for about an hour, or all night if needed.
3. Open your computer (keep hard drive frozen)
4. WARNING: Work as fast as possible to install the hard drive and boot up the computer. You may consider some form of cooling to prolong your working time.
5. Copy the files to a working hard drive.
This method is a last resort; you have about 20-30 minutes to fix up the hard drive, and afterwards it will not work at all. Good luck!

Well in the repair console i suggest typeing Help and then hitting enter or it maybe /help i cant remember of hand... that gives you a list of commands. ones you will probably use are chkdsk -r then possibly a fixmbr fixboot however if it says everything is free you may of formatted it without knowing... If thats the case your options are to.. Get a data recovery program, even after a format they can recover tons of data. or spend a lot to have a company recover it all... Up to you for how much the data is worth to you.

put it in a ziplock bag seal it all but the cable coming out of it this is where it gets tricky you need to put water in another bag and then place the bag with the hard drive into the bag with the water DO NOT GET THE HARD DRIVE WET then you freeze the bags. now you have to work fast once frozen leave the case open use a real ling cable and plug in the hard drive transfer the data and if it stops half way through freeze anain and repeat this only works if the head on the hard drive is bad but i have had success the metal head when frozen contracts and works but when it gets hot expands and doesnt want to work anymore

It seems that your hard drive is really shot. The reason it is not recognized by your computer is that it is not initializing. If it was initializing - recovery with software could be possible.
I believe that recovery is still possible - but at a substantial cost by professionals.

Data recovery from hard disc is possible in certain cases like accidental deletions, hard disc failures etc. I find the information at http://fixit.in/datarecovery.html is more useful…..!
