I have read independent definitions of both words, and they seem to mean the same thing.
But they are different words.
So do they mean different things?

Beneficial is anything that has a good effect on something--something that helps and does no harm.

Beneficent is the act of bestowing a benefit on somebody and is usually used of a person's actions, and implies kindness and charity on the part of the the one who does the beneficient act.

Eating an orange every morning is beneficial to your health.

The family was very poor, so Mr. X benificently gave them a box of oranges to supplement their diet.

Queen Elizabeth I of England was a beneficent ruler, looking out for the welfare of her people.

Queen Bess's interest in theatre was beneficial to William Shakespeare and other groups of players during her reign.

Really, beneficial means something that produces favorable results.

Beneficent means doing something kind or beneficial towards others, making you benevolent.

beneficial is when you get benefit from something or someone
while beneficent is the person who receive benefit

"Beneficial" is most often used to describe things - not people - that can be considered useful or helpful.
"Beneficient" is generally used to describe people - not things - who are generous or helpful toward others.
