I see people like to buy now instead of waiting. All the snipers come in when it is ready to end. Some people and programs also look for misspelled words. Alot of people don't like to be outbid, so think about starting something low just to get the ball rolling. It's an ego thing to alot of people. Play on their ego if you're selling something. Check out EBay fee brackets. Listing something at $10 instead of $9.99 is gonna cost you more than a penny.

I assume you are a buyer. I find what I need by clicking on an item--such as Leopard heels sz 7.5. Then I'll get a list. I change the list to lowest price. Find a .98 auction on the heels and put it in your watch list, (you may find something you like better later) especially if it is a 5 day listing-I think people watch for someone to bid, then the game starts, so I just watch, if they get it for a price higher than I want to spend-shop another day. I also look at the price of the item added to the shipping cost to see if I want to pay that much. Then if it is down to one day and their are either no bids or low bids I bid. I'm waiting for the shoes as I write. I can find anything if it exists.

Start with things you enjoy and are knowledgable about. Hobbies, sports etc. Then research the products sell price & sell through rate. Add up all your costs, not just cost of merchandise and determine if this will be a profitable item to sell.

re-sell Garage sale purchases. You can profit 300% or more. Buy some collectible for a .25 sell it for 350.00!!
Another great way is to sale on commission for others. Both have worked well for me but selling on commission is a lot more work.
Good luck!
