What does adding aspirin to the water do to help roses?

My mom always adds crushed aspirin to the rose water when she trims them and replaces the water. What does that do in biological or chemical terms?

gets rid of their little headaches lol okokok sry its to help with shock, in order to keep fresh longer. you can buy items that do the same thing but asprins is a home remedy :)

adds some nutrients to ward off shock. Some people use sugar.
