Okay, dictionaries will tell you that:
Affect is the verb, which means to have an impact on something.
Effect is the noun, which is the result of a particular action or change, etc.

Well, here's how I help my students to remember the difference:
- "A" comes first in the alphabet and is the first letter in "affect"
- "Affect" (the action) must come first because you first have to "affect" something in order to create the "effect" (the result of the action).

affect means: “have an influence on" it relates to emotion
effect means: "to create"

When you affect a situation, you have an effect on it.

For example: I wonder if the effect from global warming will affect my wellbeing.

One way to remember it is that "affect" causes something and both words (affect and cause) have an "a" in them. "Effect" is the end result, both (effect and end result) have "e" in them. Hope that helps!
