A couple of freinds and family said it was fine to give him rice cereal in his bottle. But I am not sure. My son doesn't get full on formula alone. I stilll feed him 6 -8 oz every 2-3 hours. Sometimes he throws up. I burp him every 3 0z. So I know it's not the gas making him throw up. They all say cereal i his bottle will surpress his hunger longer but I dont believe it. I think the baby will burn off the milk just the same as if there was cereal in it. He just eats so much he pukes. I have tried to limit his feedings to 5 oz then he screams because he wants more. Like I said I feed him more and he throws up. What can I do?

I gave my son cereal at 2 and a half months. formula alone didnt fill him up. at 3 months, i had to start on stage one baby food. I burped him after he finished. I jus left him on his chair for a half an hr so he didnt throw up. sometimes, babies move around so much that they dont get time to digest their food. its normal. they will soon stop throwing up. I dont see a problem putting cereal in the bottle. My mom put cereal in my bottle 15 days after i was born. I was a big baby and formula alone didnt do it for me. when your baby starts crying for more, try a pacifer.that might do the trick.

I always just gave cereal from the spoon cause of the risk of overfeeding. Its healthlyer on the baby.It might be a pain for you but its worth it when baby dont get sick.If given from spoon baby will turn away when full. From bottle they wont.

No not in a bottle. If you're going to give him cereal put it in a bown and spoon feed him. Cereal in a bottle can cause him to choke.

i started my daughter on rice in her bottle at about two months, people told me it would help her to stay asleep longer at night. i think it helped just a little bit. i only put about 1/2 teaspoon in her entire bottle to start with, since their bellies are still sensitive now. but you can increase it after a few weeks. my daughter still gets rice in her bottle everynight, a whole scoop now. about your son spitting up, i think that maybe your son wants to keep sucking. my daughter did the same thing. ask for more, then spit it up. but when we gave her a pacifier, she was much better. when they spit up, they are getting too much formula. i know it is difficult to know if they are hungry, tired, just crabby. i had the hardest time telling my daughters cries apart from eachother. she still whines the same for everything. so just try a pacifier after you give him the average amount of fourmula he should get for his age and i hope it gets better for you both. good luck.
