I do have a broadband connection. What is this hub thingy for and do I need it?

AS the other two gentlemen have answered, it is a device to make provision for more USB devices to be hooked up to ur PC. It will be useful once ur points have been used up for various devices ( e.g. printer, cam, mouse, scanner ).

When u need to connect another device ( say a digital cam to transfer the snaps to ur PC, then u find no more USB points available, then do not panic !! Just hook up the USB hub to one of the points, it will provide u 4 connections provisions to extend ur USB device pluggings.

A USB hub is sort of an extention cord for more usb devices.

You can have a stand-alone hub, a hub on a monitor, or in your case printer. You don't have to use it, but it might be handy.

Has nothing to do with internet.

A USB Hub is basically a place to plug in USB devices. they turn one USB port into many.

As you can see they come in many shapes and sizes. yours is integrated into the printer. It has nothing to do with broadband.
