Yes, acquired brain injuries are easy to come by. Our brains are sensitive organs, inside a rough skull. A heavy bang on our head can be enough for permanent damage to occur. You dad has banged his a 'few' times, so he could be more at risk. He's likely to have some form of concussion that will probably get better.
I was in a coma for over a month, had a blood clot - haematoma on my brain, as well as damaged and lost some parts of my brain. I don't think your dad is as injured as I was, but he should still seek help from a hospital and doctor.
A&E will possibly take scans of his head, to see what damage may have occurred. He's likely to need plenty of rest too. His arm may or may not be affected, even from the physical knocks. Head injuries are strange beasts, it can take several hours for the full effects to be recognisable.
Good luck! Rob

I don't know what kind of exercise you're doing , but if you're straining the muscles in your neck, that could give you a headache. Also, maybe you're starting at too hard a pace...you really have to take it easy when you first start out so that you're body has a chance to adjust. Beyond that, if you don't drink enough water, you're bound to get dehydrated and feel really lousy later. If you've got any medical issues , check with your doctor ( not a bad idea anyway if you keep feeling this bad). Take it slow, don't give up , and good luck !

Headache and vomiting are among the symptoms that doctors use to decide a patient with head injury MAY have a problem. The other 2 main ones are impaired consciousness and visual disturbance. I would therefore advise that you contact the out of hours service at least for a chat or attend A+E..

If you feel sick after banging your head, especially if you throw up, you NEED to go to the hospital! Drive him!
He could have a concussion, a hematoma, an aneurysm...if you just clock yourself in the head, you don't feel sick and your arm doesn't hurt afterwards.
Get it checked out. Better safe than sorry. It could be nothing...but it doesn't sound good. Head injuries need to be checked out ASAP, so even though he might not feel too bad, things can change quickly.

I highly doubt this is too serious. It is probably just a minor concussion. Either way, head injuries are very dangerous. Get your dad to the hospitol or a doctor as soon as possible!

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

Yes. Take him to be evaluated. My Dad fell on the ice and wacked his bean too hard a couple of years ago. I think he was brain damaged for over a year. He started talking real slow, couldn't remember anything, etc. He's back to normal now, but it was weird for awhile.
You want to make sure he doesn't have a brain bleed .

He probably has a moderate concussion. It is important that he not lie down or nap, even if he feels tired and sick. He should see a doctor and make sure there is no significant damage to his brain.
