Alaska, Hawaii, Pacific, Mountain, Central, Eastern and Atlantic. There are several states (just a few Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee) which are split between two time zones. There is a U.S. map in the beginning of your phone book. It will be much better for you to break it down.

Pacific Time is near the Pacific Ocean--so states like California, Oregon, Nevada, Washington and northern Idaho are in it.

Eastern time is near the Atlantic Ocean--so states like Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey...Florida are in it.

Everything inbetween Eastern and Pacific are either in Mountain (closer to Pacific), or Central (closer to Eastern)

To answer your question--both the 1st and 2nd answerers were wrong--Eastern Tennessee is in Eastern Time Zone (except Marion county) and West Tennessee is in Central Time Zone (+ Marion County).

Tennessee Time Zone Line

Have you looked at a map of the U.S. If so you should know that since it is close to the East coast it couldn't be on Pacific (West coast) time. Actually the state is split. The boundary between the Eastern and Central time zones runs through Tennessee between Nashville and Knoxville. It passes through the town of Crossville. East of the line, (Knoxville side) is Eastern time and West of the line, (Nashville side) is Central time. Simpson may live in Tennessee but she obviously never left her home town or learned to read a map.

It depends on WHERE in Tennessee. The eastern corner is on Eastern time. The rest is on Central time. There is yet another zone in there (Mountain Time) before you get to the Pacific time zone.
