I live in a duplex and my neighbors are OUT of hand loud my landlord will do NOTHING about it what can I do?

Its mainly the woman's 2 little girls that are so noisy! When I called the landlord the last time to report the noise he came over and talked to their mother who had been home all day and knew of it but said she was very "dissapointed" in them its been proven nothing is going to be done about it on her end or the landlords because it still remains to be so loud over there, and most of the time you hear yelling screaming like they are killing each other! I can't even watch TV in my own living room.. WHAT CAN I DO? I AM GOING CRAZY! The landlord says because they pay their rent on time every month there is nothing he can do...

I have everytime its gotten out of hand either my boyfriend or myself have went over there and very calmly and nicely asked them to be a little more quiet..they at first said okay the last straw for me is the last time I went over there to tell them to keep it down..the oldest of the 2 girls about 10 or so yelled at me and said NO I DON'T HAVE TO! I told the landlord about it.. and nothing..I thought of calling the police but I didn't want it to be that drastic I may do that!

talk to them nicely and when that doesn't work buy a porno and play it really really loud. if she got kids....she'll get your point.

you can also use these methods which will not work.....
1.) call police....they don't enforce it unless its really late
2.) prank call delivery food to their place....after couple times they will figure it out.
3.) call the child services and report the mother for beating her kids.
4.) call police for domestic violence. (make sure u call 911 and tell them on phone that 'u don't know whats going on all u hear is people screaming and fighting, please hurry before some one gets hurt" ) this will ensure that lot of cops and ambulance will arrive and it wont be just a routine check.
5.) keep 'private calling' your neighbor
6.) pay a neighborhood kid some money to go and knock on their door ever 5 minutes.
7.) from your apartment...loudly mimic everything they say. and put in your little comments. like "oh Jesus take me now", or "where is osama when u need him".
8.) hire a transsexual gigolo and send him/her knocking on her door. (ask the gigolo to come only partially clothed).
9.) when the gigolo arrives...go out and loudly say "oh jesus what the hell this world has come too" "this is a family place you w*ore...take your gigolo somewhere else"
10.) break their window or hire some punks to scare the lady.

If you don't have kids of your own its hard to understand!My kids are pretty good but a couple of years back my problem was with 2 adults who lived next door to me fought like dogs & cats for hours at night then took two hours having extremely loud makeup sex & finally when the sun would start to rise they would go to sleep.Every single night!I would call the manager of the apartments every hour since she also did nothing about it & I would get into arguments in front of other tenants so they would see how irresponsible she was.Finally I took it to the police & they asked the neighbors to cooperate because thats all they can or will do.Nothing changed!So, I got tired of their crap & began to make alot of noise myself during the daytime(when they would sleep or at least try)& they moved out & I vowed to buy a house so I could be at peace.I am now very happy.Just remember you are loaded with amunition.Nobody is gonna help you.

Have you tried talking to them yourself? Seems like a much more direct methood of dealing with an issue than going around them to the landlord. Also, you have to keep in mind that you are sharing a building with other people, they are allowed the same freedom to live as you are, so some sound is to be expected.

If the lady refuses to mind her kids, call social services...if the landlord refuses to do anything about it either, either sue him or move on...apparently the landlord and the lady have something going on or he would be threatening to evict her in this situation...

i live under 2 small children..

i bought the mother a gift basket and went to visit...put in all kinds of goodies (not expensive but nice)...
nothing seemed out of hand... in visiting..nice clean home..nice manners
so i bought some insulation
it is still bad around the vents.........but I am welcome to go over and visit.....and have a coffee and talk about the noise.....

the insulation consists of bedding quilts.... and big cushions.....

i also when it is bad.....offer to take the boys outside..so the Mom can have a rest..........it is amazing how far that goes for the Mom... and a good run in the yard..sure does wear them out...

we built a snowman the one time..........
then the Mom had them color a picture for me..and they said thanks for playing with them.......(nice picture to)
anyhow I got some quiet time...and they wore off their energy.....

we also collect rocks and color them with crayons outside......

anyhow..it worked for me

and a p.s.s... yesterday, Feb.19/07 ...the lady bought me a "pomegrant smoothie" and thanked me for helping her out so much...........with the kids........said she had the flu that one time...and who much she appreciated it.......and the smoothie was great........

Look for another place.
Get earplugs (and/or headphones.)

If you suspect abuse call social services. (I think you're just engaging in hyperbole here, but if it really does sound like they're killing each other there might be some verbal abuse.)

You don't have kids, do you? And I mean more then one if you have one. One child can be quiet, two or more - forget about it. You have to wait until they become teenagers and they stop speaking to adults.
