Get some paisley fabric or paper (like, wrapping paper or something) in a design you like.

Blow up the pattern elements big on a copier. You can make your own stencils if you get the stencil plastic from a craft store or home-design kinda place. Check with the stencils and stencil brushes, that section.

Get a few colors you like and don't just do the fishy-looking parts--put in the other pieces, too, for a realistic effect.

And if you don't want to paint it, I've seen paisley-pattern stick-on things (about $20/pack) in with wallpaper and paint and stuff. Paint the base color, and stick on the paisley pieces.

Sounds cool. Have fun!

And ask paint store people for help if you need some. Be sure you get the right kind of tape, brushes, rollers, paint...there are several things you need to buy. Get good stuff, but not the super-premium stuff--you're not going to be doing a ton of work, so don't go too expensive. And make sure you get the clean-up stuff, too--paint is NO FUN if you can't clean up the mess! Get old sheets (buy them at a thrift store, if you don't have some around) for dropcloths, and get some old grungy clothes, too.

Whew! That sounds like a lot. But I helped paint a whole house a couple of years ago, and as long as you stick with it, you'll be able to get it done.

This project sounds fun. First, I'd paint all the walls, maybe do the one thats going to have paisley a lite whatever your paisley is going to be. (ex. if its going to be green paisley then the wall would be lite, lite green) Then I'd go to the craft store and buy maybe 2 or 3 stencils for paisley and the craft supplies necessary to use the stencils. Now go to your wall that needs stenciling. Start from the bottom or top, I don't think its that important and do your stenciling in an even pattern on the wall. For the second row, you might want to stencil the pattern just a little off, or exactly the same measurements as the first row.
Have a good time with your wall, that sounds real fun.

For a paisley pattern I would use stencils and line them out in a repeating pattern. Paint the whole wall first with the background color and then paint the stencil color(s) on top of it.
