No.

In the UK, the police are funded from local taxes (the council tax).

Not commiting traffic offences would save the tax money spent on dealing with accidents etc. (Fire, Police, Ambulance, Hospital service, road repairs etc.)

It would also allow the police to concentrate on other areas which would make a real difference to the quality of life of the rest of us.

So please do go ahead and stop comitting traffic related offences - for the good of all of us - not just for one week - do it for the rest of your life.

Yes, and if they were forced to take down the cameras that are just up to fleece the motorist (and left the blackspot ones in action) they'd go bankrupt, as most of these traffic cameras are only money spinners for these inadequete little penpushers who can't budget. there's a four lane carriageway in Glasgow with a 30mph limit. .. flash!

No, because the money in fines goes to the County Court, not the police force.

Actually you would save many money and expense. First, you'd save the police department many hours of overtime they pay out weekly to just keep up with it all. So to remove say all traffic items would relieve them of much un-neccessary actions to where they could focus elsewhere under normal man power and hours.

You would save each individual money as now they would not be wasting so much gas nor creating more wear and tear on the car in turn creating higher and more frequent mechanic visits. This in turn would domino very quickly and you would see gas prices drastically decrease. This is evident after each summer when all the kids go back to hs and college and stop just driving for fun and wasting gas. Once they stop for the most part, gas drops an easy 30 cents every year.

Now this would make some companies less profitable....for one...the oil and gas guys. Huh.....slow down, save fuel and we import less and give less of our cash to the towel heads. Huh....seems like logic there.

Tire companies would feel a pinch as tires would not wear out as fast or need to be replaced as fast. This would also effect almost all part and repair centers as they would see a decrease in need for parts and work.

But there is a huge benefit for all....it slows down global warming as less CO2 will be produced. In turn allowing us all a more comforable year over this really hot summer, no fall, really cold winter, no spring crap we are currently in. Plus it would allow us all to breath easier and would help future generations.

To think police alone...is such a small scale........if everyone did a max of 65mph for just one week. The amount of savings it would create in so many markets is almost unable to be calculated.

No, the police would have more time to go after rapists, bank robbers, and home invaders. Speeding tickets are simply voluntary contributions to municipal tax coffers.

it wont happen cos every one breaks the law on speeding,if a device was fitted in every car to detect speed, alcohol, drugs and bombs and prevented us from driving the car or limited the speed according to the limit, then the government would loose revenue, thus finding something else to tax,the answers are simple ,but will never be implemented because the government wants ya cash.it's not different to smoking,it's death sticks in a pack, they want you to give up.but they wont ban them cos they will lose cash, stinky corruption, they call it ,discouragement,i call it force,or oppression

If we all went the speed limit for one week, the traffic tie ups would stretch Los Angeles to New York. Don't tell anyone this tho, we have enough people speeding as it is.
