As far as Heros go, Spiderman. All characters, Dr Doom. This villain has no powers other than those he has built into his armor or learned through the study of science and sorcery. True, he has a vast fortune to draw upon and has no moral issues about who gets hurt in his path to power. That said, for someone who has started from scratch, he has usurped the power of the Silver Surfer, Galactus himself, and even, temporarily, the Beyonder.
He has also helped the heroes, on occcassion, when not doing so threatens his future plans. The nearest, self made hero in Marvel is Iron Man, and Doom could kick his can (pardon the expression) any day of the week and twice on Tuesday (sounds better to me than twice on Sunday).

The Black Panther. Hes a cool cat whose been in league with the Avengers, the Fantastic four, and some other high level Marvel groups. Plus hes wealthy, highly educated, a repsected king as well as lover, and pimped out in a great suit with amazing technology. Plus he married STORM.......you cant imagine the fun with her!

Tony Stark, a.ok.a. Iron guy. he's basically a genius. i admire how he's laid-back and humorous and easily, relatively clever, and he's have been given the playboy-element happening and the type coronary heart for his secretary and the affection for his pals and the ambition for his father's employer - i think of he's a very properly-stepped forward hero. Sarcastic, witty, without being annoying, creative without being suited, good-looking without being godly and type without being a saint.

Spider-Man, He is a guy, with his amazing abilities, and still has all the problems we have in real life, but finds the strength to push forward. It makes it more realistically.
