I think there are more great mangas available than the anime. So I'm going to vote for manga. I believe that the quality of an manga exceeds the anime most of the time and plus I think the story/plot are far more meaningful and concise.

Oh, Fullmetal Alchemist, of course!! The anime, I think, is better.
D. Gray Man is a lesser-known manga, but still great!
Naruto, the manga. The anime was sort of killed when it came to America...
FLCL (also known as Fooly Cooly) is a must-see for any anime fan. It's only six episodes long.
But Fullmetal Alchemist would be the #1 choice.

Dont know if you like your blood count but definitely check out the manga and anime series "Fist of the North Star". Its violent as hell but worth watching.

Manga or anime.no way! what happend to the world when I was a kid everybody hated anime. it was gay. like ballet. big eyes and fancy gay haircuts. not cool. the only good anime was the samurai pizza cats!!!
