Irregular bleeding is a very common side effect of birth control pills. I can also pretty much guarantee you are not going to die. If you're using less than 1 pad/tampon per hour, you're not in danger. The lightheadedness is probably also a side effect of your changed hormone levels and not of the blood loss. Eat some red meats, or some green leafy veggies to make up for iron losses, tho.
You can stop taking the pills without consulting your doc, but presumably you went on them for a reason, so it might be good to wait until you get a consultation with him. For most women, the bad side effects get much less after the first cycle, and are gone by three. If you can gut it out for a few more days until you chat with him, then I'd suggest you do that.

It takes a lot to die from menstrual blood loss. I think I was once told if I was going through more than 1 pad an hour to call the gyno back. I suffer from severe anxiety and just stopped using Yaz. I did ok with it (no breakthrough bleeding). I was on it because I was bleeding randomly and they were trying to regulate my hormones (which it did). I however had the same thing happen about six years ago when I was taking a different pill. I had a period for a month. It is because the hormones are either to high or to low to match your body. I think your doctor will change your prescription. I would call a doctor and tell them the amount of blood loss you are experiencing. They will give you proffesional advice. In the mean time elevating your legs will help control blood loss. DON'T worry you will be fine!

I am not a doctor, but I do know that sometimes birth control will make you bleed for prolonged amounts of time. If it is scaring you that much, then stop taking it until you can speak to your doctor. And I would not worry about dying, you will be fine. You are probably dizzy and having anxiety attacks because you are worring yourself sick, not because of the actual symptoms you are having. Menstrual blood is only a small percentage of blood anyway and it is not from your system, it is already there.

As long as the bleeding is not caused by a ruptured blood vessel, you aren't really losing blood from vaginal bleeding. Not in the same way you lose blood if you're cut.
The 'blood' during menstruation is the lining of the uterus, and has blood and other fluids in it. It is not blood from your circulatory system.
If the dosage of the pill you're taking is too high or too low for you, there would be some side effects such as you describe.
So perhaps its the wrong type of pill for you, or the dosage isn't right for you.
Dizzy spells make me think of diet - are you dieting?
They also make me think of anxiety - increased anxiety and adrenaline can cause some dizziness.
But it all starts with discussing all this with your doctor and identifying if the pill is the right one and right dosage for you.

if you feel the medication is causing the bleeding, then immediately stop usage! wait until you can talk to your doctor before you continue on the medication. and yes you can die from breakthrough bleeding, but unless it continues to remain heavy, i would not advise that you seek immediate medical attention, but since you are an alarmist, if it looks like you are losing alot of blood, then go to the emergency room. it is all up to you.

I would stop taking taking this pill until you see your doctor. There are lots of varieties of the pill, so just keep trying until you find the correct one for you.
