I don't believe life speeds up I think we just realise how precious and short our life is. As children, we believe death is century's away, as an adult we are more aware of the way we have wasted time . Our brain still wants to do so many things but our bodies are not as capable of keeping up with what we want to do anymore.

Hi Rob,
Well, I can only comment from being myself, now at the age of 51, so.....
In my motorbike / hippy teens - I will live forever.
In my twenties, my life is still all in the future.
Come thirty-something, I start to ponder.
At forty, I think "good greif, I may be half-way"
Now, at the young age of 51, back to big motorbikes, water ski-ing
jumping out of aircraft, etc. as I feel that time is upon me.
We are all going, mon ami, and the wisest of us knows not when.
So in direct answer to your question, I agree. The changes of life circumstances seem to "speed up" a tad as we grow older.
Perhaps because instead of flying around willy-nilly with no time to spare in our teens, say, we now prefer to watch a DVD or somesuch of a Sunday afternoon, with a Jack Daniels, and rant about the good old days.
Sad, really. So I am teaching ski-ing tomorrow, growing my hair longish, and harking back.
Come sixty, I will still be looning around.
A lot of this must be all in the mind, given the frame to cope with it.
As for my demise, one day, I trust it will be quick & easy to do.
"Meet my maker" ! hope that I shall not go through that painful child-birth thing again. If I were a believer in re-incarnation, I fancy being a nice pet dog.
Grub, care, and freindliness. No worries about the credit card.
I aim to hit 100, so the next few decades should speed up nicely.
See you in the afterlife !
Bob.

I think it seems to speed up 'cos we realise time is getting on and we need to do all that we want to do and make the most of things.
If you think about a holiday that you've really enjoyed, don't you just love the place more and more near the end and time seems to go by so quickly?
I think life is a bit like that...first of all you think you've got loads of time....a lot of things get put off...then you get to mid life and it gets you thinking. Hence the mid life crisis!

When we are 20, it seems that 40years in the future is so far away we dont even consider it will happen.
When you reach 60 you know that your life is limited afterall, thats when time seems to go faster. Because you can see that your life span will come to an end, and it could only a few years away.

Life does not really speed up, we just have more responsibility than we did as kids. It is impossible to get it all done so we turn around twice and another week is gone.

How can life speed up? That's like my friends trying to make me hurry up and finish my 30 minutes of piano practice.

I hardly think the clock hands move any quicker the older you get it's just you want to make up for so much you couldn't do or afford before so you didn't dwell on it then... but now with cheap air fares and luxury cruises within your grasp you realise there's so much to do and see.... but sooooo little time to do or see it.

No i dont think it speeds up, i think we just have much more to do as adults and the day is over before you know it.I think as children we paid more attention to the smaller things had more spare time on our hands.

Life is like a roll of toilet paper; the closer to the end the faster it goes.
