HI there!

I repair speedometers for a living.

That instrument is driven using a gear and electronic sender in transmission. Jack up car and remove 10mm bolt on sender.(the sender is under drivers seat side of tranny)remove send and verify both gears are in good condition.

The sender it self is harder to test in that you need a multimeter or other test equipment.

If the sender is fine then the speedometer could be at fault.

Contact Speedotach for a possible replacement otherwise off to the junkyard. 1 800 442 4491. They only work on GM electronics ! !

Sometimes there is a device in between the speedometer called an "buffer". These units can go bad as well.

It would be best to have a professional mechanic quickly troubleshoot the problem unless you have a big supply of good parts and time.

I hope this helps. Good Luck!

There is nothing collectible about an 85 V6 Camaro. I wouldn't bother fixing the 90 V8 Camaro either because its not a very good 350 stock. By the time you build up that 350 into something with a little power you will be doing the trans, axles, and its gonna add up. Just go buy an LS1 Camaro and have something that already has good power or at least an LT1 if the money is tight.

Haynes Manual
What you do is get the Haynes Repair Manual for your Year and model of vehicle at Auto Zone, or another automotive repair shop. The manual will show you what and how to do the repairs.

Now I am not familiar with it, but I would still say it has a speedomenter cable coming out of the tranny. Look on the drivers side underneath and see if you see a cable coming out from the rear driver's side of the tranny.

Check the fuse first. If there is one. If your dash is broke there are some companies on the web who fix instrument panels. Finding a berlinetta instrument panel is gonna be hard.

generally you wont find one insturment on the cluster for sale by itself, you usually have to buy the whole cluster, which can be pretty pricey, but you may be able to try "summit raceing" or "year one" give them a call and see what they say
