He is very good looking, proclaims to love me. Wants to come here to meet me, is from California. Supposedly stranded in Africa doing road work there. Sent me all the info on the hotel he is at. Says he will send me the travelers checks to cash, but has to pay his hotel bill by Tuesday. Did I mention he is hot? I have all the info on the hotel but no way of knowing if he is truly stranded. Is there a way I can find out?

Hi,

I live in Ghana (kinda next door to Nigeria). This is a typical scam. I've written something about it in the forums on tripadvisor. Please take a look and see if it sounds familiar.

Good luck.

Yes!!! Dr Phil had a whole show about these scams and the majority of them are from Nigeria! They come up with all kinds of stories: some say they are dying and are millionaires, and if you help them with money now, because they don't have access to their accounts, they will reward you with millions later. Others prey on sympathetic people and say they're in a hospital and need money for a life-saving operation. There are so many scams out there and this is definitely one of them. Please stop speaking to this guy - he's just after your money. And for future reference, whenever you get any emails from people you don't know asking you for money - it's a scam. I get those all the time. Learn how to click the "send to spam" button in your emails. If you continue talking to him he will sweet-talk you and charm his way into your bank account - stop all communication with him, block his email/screen name. Please don't contribute to the stereotype of Americans being gullible and will fall for anything.

there have been a number of in this communicate board in the most suitable month.... you're actual, it is a huge rip-off......do not even open the emails. they could easily get your telephone decision out of your pc registration and initiate calling you. Plus, those Nigerias substitute assistance with one yet another and also you'd be listening to from different scammers too.... once you've already opened an e-mail, bypass on your e-mail service and placed a block on the e-mail handle of the position it got here from.

Yes, he is definately scamming you. The banks and hotels there do take traveler's checks, money orders and credit cards. I am a member of several anti-scamming groups and I can assure you he is scamming you. Please do not do it. If you do and are caught, you can be arrested and prosecuted. The traveler's checks are fraudulant.

Please block him right away and do not do it.

I hope this doesn't come too late...., do not send him any money!!! this is coming from someone with experiences having dealt with fraudsters like that especially from Nigeria...unfortunately, alot of them exist in Nigeria known as the 'yahoo boys' and they prey on innocent people on the internet...if you haven't sent the money yet, do not send it!! if he keeps asking, contact your local police.
