That's a bit of a broad question, because a hotel for a family in not only cheap because of it's "cheap tariff" but also because:

- it saves money on transportation costs which are expensive in London - choose a hotel close by to what you want.
-it provides free extras like facilities and breakfast - choose a hotel that offers benefits which will save you money in the long run.
-a hotel that offers you value. "Cheap" may mean you close your eyes and forget about the noise outside, the poor decor etc etc. Choose a hotel with "your" perception of value.

There are sometimes 4 star hotels in London that offer better value than 1 star hotels.

What you need is a tool that will help you identify this. I suggest that you look at Cheaperthanhotels - London and drill into the availability options which can identify available room types at both the last minute and in advance.

This will be a good start, - good luck.

Any Travel Lodge hotel, especially if you get the supersaver deal of £15 a night.
