its an other part of this life. but we base our opinions on what we think of death. we think of it as "sad" but it s realy just the final stage.if you strip how you perceive life, the beginning, middle, and end. then realy death should be seen as sad as the beginning

good question my friend. Some people are afraid of death because it is the unknown. We base our lives in predicateability, routines, schedules. Death is an unknown variable. To religious dominations, it is the beginning. To atheists, what of it?

I've just read the Death of Socrates by Plato.

My favorite quote sums up what I believe about in death, that it is not a time to mourn but a time to be happy and rejoice in that person's life who has passed.

Socrates: "What would not a man give if he might converse with Orpheus and Musaeus and Hesiod and Homer? Nay, if this be true, let me die again and again. . . . Above all, I shall be able to continue my search into true and false knowledge; as in this world, so also in that; I shall find out who is wise, and who pretends to be wise, and is not. . . . The hour of departure has arrived, and we go our ways--I to die, and you to live."

In my mind, i see death as sad because as humans, we are creatures of habit; we like routine; we also like change, but on our own terms. So when death happens-a major change in our routine of knowing and having physical contact with a person- and its a huge change that we dont instigate (usually) i see it as a shock to our system. to me death is not sad because in my heart i know the person has gone to a better place than this, its just always a shock and it nothing will make that way but time and falling back into a new routine...

Unable to speak to the person again. We are a very close family we see each other everyday. The loss of my sister tore us apart, we were preparing for her death, but was gone much too soon, my sister was given 6 to 8 months and left us before 3 months. I don't believe we could of prepared for it but more or less expected her to leave us after 6 months.
I will always miss her and have her in my heart.
She is in a better place, she is no longer in pain.

That's interesting. But in a way, death is as sad as the beginning. Life is tragic.

Many good answers here. Fear is a pain and the pain of death has no limit as fear. This amusing similarity with other expectations in life is rendered in the negative expression which would other wise be humor.

The Will is positive, the Judgment is negative.

Death is more joyful than the beginning: in the beginning we belong to this earth, after death we belong to either immense nothingness or immense heaven.
We all have to face death, despite fear or hope.
Perhaps, the best way is to use our rational sense for learning how to make it beautiful, because we love beauty - beauty in life and beauty in death. Up to this moment, I feel that trying to enbalm our last breath with the love of God is really beautiful. That breath may please God and other creatures in the immense nothingness.

My 12 year old son was killed. My answer is two parts. One because I cant physically hold him or to have seen what he would have grown up to be. Two is that it was a new beginning for him and I know where he is and that he is safe and that I'll get to see him again someday. Thanks for asking: Blueladybug
