It would depend upon what country you live in. In Canada, and the United States you require either a BSW or MSW, which are obtained at a University level. BSW is a four year program and the Master's would be obtainable after that. Check out some of the web sites for professional social worker's associations. CSWA. org or NSWA.org

In australia, you don't need a degree to become a social worker. However, you won't get paid as much as someone with a Bachelor of Social Work, and you won't be 'trusted' as much by the general public.
You're best completing high school, and a bachelor of social work.

at minimum, you need a Bachelor (or Master) of Social Work degree at a Council of Social Work Education accredited school. Once you have that degree and a certain number of hours of clinic work, you can apply for licensure with the state.

normally an diplomia, or nvq etc, ive just finished a btec national diploma in care which allows me to become a social worker

In the states there is a degree in social work. Hope you like to listen and have a positive outlook....good luck.

P.S. - I would minor in psychology......better insight to people's underlying problems.

What country are you in? In UK, you need a degree in Social Work - a three year degree.

I wouldnt imagine it be too difficult,maybe if youve got experience of interfering in other peoples lives,or come from a family of rich curtain twitchers,im sure you cant wait to pass judgement on who you think is a good person,and who you think is BAD

you should be a good listener and have empathy. than get at least a bssw from an accredited college. an msw will be more benificial if it is more money you seek.
