net words per minute and gross words per minute?

Gross is number of words typed.
Net is number of words typed minus errors.

I'm going to take a guess at this one...it is sort of like your paycheck.....your gross is before the oops is taken out...

Gross words mean all the words typed
Net words might mean the words that are usable that you typed?
