I am doing a project for my sociology of the family class, and I need some feedback on the following questions. It's a college level course, so please be formal as much as possible. Any kind of response will be much appreciated. Thank you. (If you could kindly leave ur gender and ur age, that would help a lot, thank u once again).
1)What is the most popular dispute over child custody?
2)What factors does the court take into account in awarding custody?
3)Do you think a child should have the right to choose between his/her parents? If so, why?
4)When parents cannot reach an agreement on custody, what do you think the guidelines should be, when the court decides the case?
5)What special attention should be given, to the child’s age on custody and visitation decisions?

5. visitation should never be left out of the equation, except in cases of child molestation and drug/alcohol abuse. supervised visits also need to be factored into the custody decison.

1) who should get the children, whether full custody, or partial
2) home, money, job, STABILITY, if the children are older, what they say
3)yes. If they are over maybe 12-13 they should have a right. Girls have a right to a yearly exam without consent, they can choose who they want to live with. I also don't think that they can just say "I wanna live with my dad" and the court allows it. They should take it into consideration though.
4)as fair as possible, as long as child support is being paid, and BOTH parents are following the orders from the court
5) it is an individual situation. It depends on what is happening with the parents. IF a baby is being breast fed, the mother should get most of the custody and be ordered to pump milk for the dad.

4. the guidelines should be that the other parents who wont be recieving the child will be able to see him along with the parents who must be there for at least once a week for an hour or two, if the parentt who didn't receieve the child is sane enough *haha*
5. If the child is under 18, they have no choice.

1) The most popular dispute is who will have full time care of the child although I'd say a lot of cases are parents trying to agree on when and how many hours they can see their child for.
2) parent skills, stabilty, childs opinion
3) In don't think I child can take the full desion however depending on age the child's opinion should be taken into account very seriously.
4) I think the child should be with its mother if possible.
