a film in the 1960s about a man that had several sexual partners of different ages and some were married. he did not want to make a commitment to anyone and when he did think about the idea he went to see one of his girlfriends and found that she got fed up waiting for him and found herself a nice man and he was a bit hurt by this. there was one sad scene where he got a married woman pregnant and she had to go and have a ilegal abortion. that is a very sad and upsetting part to the movie. its a classic and worth a watch and still relevent today. michael caine is playing the starring role and is great!!

Womanising jack-the-lad commitmentphobe. Michael Caine played the role in the '60's version and it was remade a couple of years with Jude Law. The '60s film came out at a time when gender equality was becoming an issue similarly the Jude Law film dealt with shifting gender roles. Alfie is a working class charmer revelling soullessly in the libertinism of each age. It works so well because of the involving charm of Caine (Law ain't bad at that either). He addresses the audience directly to camera which gets the viewer involved and creates sympathy for a character who can be be quite cruel to the ladies in his life.

Cilla Black sang this song for the film, 'Alfie', starring Michael Caine as a ladies man in the swinging sixties. That's what it was all about.
