They are being given free in Cambridge as a sort of trial. I am selling my house and have had one complied. Although there is a homebuyer's survey in the pack - the surveyor spent a lot of time in my house compliling the report - I think that if I was buying I would want my own independent survey done. The company which compiled the pack (based 65 miles from Cambridge) asked me a lot of questions over the phone which I could have completed on a form myself - their sole reason for doing it seemed to be to sell me conveyancing at about £200 over what my solicitor is charging.

I am really glad they are not applicable in Scotland. They seem like a complete waste of time and money. Another example of Jobs for the Boys.
