Because of PNoy, the Philippines' financial standing in the eyes of the international community has improved a lot. The confidence of investors has returned. It will take more than 6 years before this investor confidence will trickle down to the masses. PNoy is not focused on the nitty-gritty of the little things that will make street vendor happy. Therefore, it is perfectly understandable that a common citizen will give him a failing grade in the first year. But checking on the Banko Sentral standing, our import and export numbers, the huge infrastructure projects lining up, etc. These are all long term, that the next President will benefit from. Congratulations, Mr. President, for putting an end to the reign of corruption emanating from Malacanang.

Nothing. His Cuban missile crisis was a stand down on his behalf. He exchange U.S. missiles in Turkey for the ones in Cuba. Not only that, but their was submarines in the Atlantic coast that were much closer to U.S. shores. The only thing he had going, was he knew how to deliver a speech. Snake oil salesmen can do the same, but it takes a real President to have convictions and deal with matters in a strong way even if the weak minded don't support him.

Dont listen to Carter.....the Cold War did not end until the 1980's under Ronald Reagan.

What JFK did do is keep the soviets from putting missiles into Cuba. He kept his cool when Kruschev, (Soviet leader at the time), threatened the US, saying that they would "crush us".

He also began police action in Vietnam, which later escalated into the Vietnam War. He wanted to stop the spread of Communism.

His major accomplishment was stopping the Cold War, or the next World War, from happening. Some people don't realize how close we were to a nucleur war with the Soviet Union. We were literally hours away from war. For him to perform under that kind of pressure and stop what could have been a very traumatic situation, is simply amazing. Its sad he had to pass so early in his extraordinary life.

1. Resolved Cuban missile crisis, which removed the medium range ballistic missiles that were being armed with Nuclear warheads on Cuba. This was more of a public relations move than a resolution of any issue. Submarines armed with nuclear bombs were patrolling the Atlantic coast, and were much closer than Cuba.
2. Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty with the Soviet Union.

he was the 1st pres. to be assassinated in a convertible. also the 1st to have the woman who he was having an affair with sing happy birthday to him on national television. he and his brother did stop the cuban missile crisis, they were ready to push the button. he was also very instrumental in the civil rights movement. i do believe that the de-segregation of schools was under his administration. he also proved by his death, how corrupt the government really is, with the warren commission and their lies, and the unbelievable string of deaths to cover up what really happened and why.
