Mine empties near the ditch in front of the house, about 200 feet away. On wet days the water flow is quite high. Dry days there is no water at all. My water softener also sends the backflush water into the same pipe.

i work for an excavating company and we do alot of that kind of work -yes those drains slope away from the house to ether slose pipe or ditch there should be 2 drains around ur basement-- 1 at the very bottom whitch is the footer or french drain then about 2 foot above that there should be an eves drain to keep the water from the roof away from the walls the lenght of pipe and where they will go depands on site and how deep ur walls r where ever the pipe can daylight at and be out of the way dont know if this helps hope so

it can drain into few places, either into ditch or culvert around the area of your home below grade. it can also be directed into the city's sewer system. and finally the tile know as "big o" situated around the footing of your house, is sometimes routed back into a sump pump in the basement, only to be recycled back into it again, this, in most cases happens in flat lots with very little drainage
