I would like to take a PS2 from America to Pakistan as a gift. Will it work in Pakistan considering the voltage difference? I will also be buying games from here and not from Pakistan. Also, anything else I should consider before taking a PS2 there?
Thanks.

To get it to work in Pakistan:
1) check if the PS2 is rated to 240V (not W, V). If it is, it should work. If not:
2) Go to nearest electronic store and purchase, I believe its called a step-down transformer. explain to them that you have a device of 110 V and want to use it in a 240 V plug, and that it's not rated for 240 V. The people at the store should be able to get you the transformer.

Then: plug PS2 to the transformer and the transformer into the power outlet and you should be fine.

As for anything else:
The PS2 has internet capabilities, this can cause huge problems for dialup internet users. Try to get end-user to obtain a cable internet connection, or a dedicated internet phone line and an unlimited usage internet plan.
Some TVs may be PAL-only. An American PS2 is probably NTSC only. Get end-user to purchase a better TV that can handle both PAL and NTSC.
Also pack it well so that components do not jiggle. I would check with the travel agent/airline/ Pakistan customs authority first to find out if you're allowed to bring a PS2 in.
Lastly, any elements of the PS2 containing liquid elements should be seperated from anything not containing liquid elements and from each other. For example, a battery containing mercury should be put in a seperate waterproof container from everything else. Sometimes the air pressure on an airplane can cause containers to burst. In this scenario, its best to make sure that if a leak occurs due to air pressure it does not contaminate other things.

Sometimes it depends on where you are tsaying and how good the power outlet is. The only games that will work are games purchased from here and not from Pakistani stores. So I suggest you buy a different handheld device. Gameboys would be ideal because the games from there will work just fine.

Hop I helped! =)

if the suggested voltage on the PS2 is 220V,it will work.Usually such gadgets have dual voltage choice anyway.u could also use a voltage converter for your PS2.

Yes but you need a power adoptor to convert from 110 volt to 220 volt.
And video with Pal support (NTSE used in USA).
