Being homesick is good. It means that you love and miss people who are important to you. You can probably find a way to have regular contact with one another so that you can keep up to date..

Try to keep your mind busy. When you think about all your family, you can find something to do like going out for movies, reading a book, talking to a friend. In my opinion, friends is the best solution to feel better when your are homesick. I have been overseas (Canada) for almost 5 years and I havent seen my family since I came here, I know the first years is sooo hard but smile and in that way you will make a bunch of friends who can make you forget about your family back home.

Keep in touch with them as often as you can. You might also try journaling, writing letters to your family members. Talk about events or daily occurances in your life. It will at least keep you feeling like if they know what's going on in your life, it's as good as being there with you. Consider meeting new friends. The more human contact you have, the less you will long for family contact. Friends don't replace family, but they do offer some degree of comfort for companionship.

Right up my alley. Call, write, photo albums, etc. I moved to Texas a little over a year ago from Michigan. I know it sounds hokey, but if you look at the moon, know that your family will be looking at the same moon later (since you are overseas). Keep the happy times warm within your heart. It's difficult. I can't wait to see them again too. Good luck.

Use your PC for contact. Write them often, like in a diary. Send them pictures and call them if you have a cell that gives free calls to anywhere or get one.
Stay with as many Friends as possible and keep busy. Try not to think to much on the subject and don't go to bed at night unless your real tired and will fall asleep fast. Don't dwell on the past.

Buy a webcam for them and for you and you can talk and see them which will help tremendously keep up the phone calls so you can be part of the everyday events in each others lives. And if you can see them through the webcams and see their faces its so much easier to bare. Good luck to you.
