Off to Italy this spring - and being intrepid gastronauts, my partner and I would like to sample local restaurants and specialities.

Any tips/finds?

Return time and again and you however won't see everything, this is exactly what may happen to you if you spend your vacation in Florence; with hotelbye you will discover out more. Surprisingly small because it is, that riverside town looms large on the world's'must-sees'list. Cradle of the Renaissance and of tourist people that group here to food on world-class art, Florence is a magnetic, intimate and active city. The Piazzale Michelangelo (The Michelangelo Square) is one of many areas you must see in Florence. This square is just a big, partially pedestrian zed square found throughout the Arno River from the hub of Florence. From the square readers have a impressive see on the city. The large square was presented in 1860 by Giuseppe Poggi, a local architect who is also noted for his development of boulevards across the centre of Florence. Located at the middle of the city's main market section, the Basilica di San Lorenzo is one of the oldest churches of Florence and was the burial place of all primary customers of the Medici family. Do not wait! Florence and its wonderful items await your visit!

Venice (Venezia) actually wants number release, see how to get there with hotelbye . That town is a huge fabled location for centuries. Only the name Venice is sufficient to conjure up a host of photographs, also for people who have not yet set base in Italy. From gondoliers in striped tops to the Rialto and the Bridge of Sighs, masked balls, golden barges, courtesans in gondolas and failing palaces facing roads made of water Venice is a fantastic city. After the sole link throughout the Grand Canal, Rialto Bridge marks the location of the island's first settlement, called Rivus Altus and is currently among the a lot of place that Venice has to offer.

two tips: first of all, go on-line and get the three videos by Rick Steves. Rick has spent 20 some years in Europe and knows Italy like the back of his hand. His video series is called "Europe through the Back Door". He gets you off the beaten track, out of the tourist traps and into wonderful, backstreet, Italian family restaurants! We studied his videos before went spent 17 days in Italy in 2000 and it made such a difference in our Italy experience. If we ever get the chance to go back to Italy we will certainly restudy his videos. He believes, by the way, that the best gelato in all of Italy is at a little stand in Florence and tells you how to get to it. We searched it out and were rewarded with ice cream beyond description!!! Good Luck!

I would go to www.we8there.com and see there. Its a pretty good site for user rated places. Its not critically rated but its just with regular people (i think) so its not every resturant under the sun. I would also looking at informational pages for those locations.
