RE: Jaundice treatment
Hi
This may sound silly, but one of the things I had in my bag was a pair of sunglasses! My little boy had jaundice and had to go under UV lights for 4 6 hour sessions. It was awful as I had to leave him in his cot in only a nappy with a visor to protect his eyes, and he became quite distressed. He also figured out how to pull off his eye protector visor early on so I couldn't take my eyes off him. I got no sleep for 3 or 4 days counting the labour and birth plus this, and was at the end of my tether!
In the end I took the light box over to my bed, took my son out of the cot onto my chest with the light box over us both like a sunbed. He was happy to be in mum's arms, and it was a lot less stressful for me too. The sunglasses helped to protect my eyes.
One thing to be very careful about though is make sure the baby can't fall should you doze off. Put up the side bars of the bed and prop with plenty of pillows.

Gosh, it's over 3 years for me and I'm surprised to note that I've forgotton as well! I remember needing sanitary towels - loads and loads of them. Knickers. Erm, clothes for the baby. Trouble is I was kept in for a few days with bladder complications, so I wasn't really prepared. I think if it's straight forward then you don't need to take too much.

I'm being absolutely useless here and I'm going to shut up immediately.

You MUST have a car seat before you can take the baby home.
Other than that.... you'll survive even if you take nothing with you. But you may be more comfy if you take your own pajamas, robe and slippers. Grooming supplies like hairdryer, makeup, etc so you'll look pretty for your guests. Camera, disposable so you don't have to worry about it being stolen. That's all I can think of.

Car seat and clothes for the baby and also home going outfit for you. The hospital will provide you with everyhing else, like night gown, slippers, sanitary pads, diapers for the baby, toothbrush etc. I had my first baby 3 weeks ago and I had all of that packed, but turned out I didn't use anything.
