I have been gaining weight in my stomach. The funny thing is that it seems the top of my stomach has been jutting out (nearer to my ribs. Is this normal?

Yup. All of us gain weight in different ways, generally this is a genetic thing. If your stomach is hurting you or you're looking jaundiced then you need to go to a doc ASAP, but if you just have a beer belly then you're not in any imminent danger.

that my dear is a dun-lapp belly. quite common and relatively attractive amoungst most of the general population although if your not allowing others to pleasure in the cookie jar- well, you could lose friends this way, so be conciderate and do leave a few crumbs.

sit-ups won't tone muscle in your abs. do various crunches to tone and define muscle in your abs. situps work the hip flexors.

mine used to do that too. its easier to lose that fat than to gain it so just work out your abs.
