we change to the Swiss electoral system, whereby referendums are called before any major changes are made (like going to war with Iraq in our case)

it might be an interesting idea but then i think that it would be a very difficult thing to change to constitutionally. also i believe that the powers that be ie the top 3 parties would object heavely as it will cut there power dramatically, i think the best thing that we could do would be to get rid of carrer politicians. if we did tha then we would get more 'real' people in politics. the change would only be introduced by one of the minority parties and they have so little sway that it will never happen.

i think its an interesting ideab though. maybe we should have a refarendum on it.

It won't happen here because the govt don't want to hear the results.

That sound like a good idea, but I don't think it will happen anytime soon.

yes, but in britain who would count the votes that could be trusted.
