How serious do u think it is? Well, it all started out 4 years ago when me and my brother were jumping off of swings. Yeah I know pretty dumb. But I did it and landed on the side of my foot and colapsed. Well, I couldn't walk on it for like ...3 months. In total it hurt for 1 year non stop. Now it hurts on and off but now it really hurts.I was in a different country and/or contenent and didn't go to the doctor. Pretty dumb also. Well, after that it hurt whenever I just hurt it alittle it would hurt a lot. I'm going to the doctor but I have 2 wait for my mom to get back from a trip. What does it sound like 2 u? I also heard a crack when I landed. Does that mean I broke it? Is it possible that I broke it and it didn't grow back correctly? Do u think it is serious? Im only 12 FYI. What will they do to me?

none of us can really tell you what happened....i have had extreme problems with one of my ankles for about 5 years. I kept twisting it, but my parents would never take me to the doctor because after a while it would just go away but it started happening more often. The worst time i twisted it was when i was walking across a bed and went to step on the floor, it just gave out on me. It was the worst pain i felt in my life. My dad called the doctors and they said that they could get me in, in about 3 hours. I sat in a chair screaming and wriggling until I couldnt handle it anymore and made my dad take me right away. I almost passed out while trying to get to the car. The told me that I had fractured it...but not what you usually think of fracturing. When it twisted the tendon stretched and chipped the bone.

In all I went to 3 doctors...the last one being a specialist that told me I needed surgery. I had surgery on December 29th, 2005 to repair the damage. After the recovery I stopped twisting it until about oct. of last year. I went back to the doctors and he told me that I may need surgery again. My ankle will hurt on and off.

You may have broken it and you may need surgery. When you go to the doctors they will probably just do a check-up and assess the damage and see what can be done. You will most likely not stay the night. If you need surgery they will make an appointment for the surgery and depending on how extensive it is depends on how long they will keep you after surgery. I had an out-patient surgery, meaning they let me go home right after the surgery when I woke up.

I was dreading having surgery. It was right after Christmas, right before New Years, and right in the middle of my Senior year of high school but now that I look back on it....it's kinda weird to say, but it was fun. I was in a wheel chair/crutches for a month. I then moved to a big walking boot and finally went to a small brace. There wasn't much pain involved at all. It was a great experience, especially for my first surgery. If you need surgery, I wouldn't worry too much. Your life might change for a month or so but it's fun to have to try and figure out new ways to so things. You'll be fine and I wish you the best of luck.

Only your doctor will be able to tell what happened, but you might need to go through some tests like X-rays and moving your foot around for your doctor.

If it is healed okay but the tissue around it is damaged (muscles, ligaments and tendons) then you might need to go to a sports injury clinic and do physiotherapy, which is where they will teach you how to strenghten and hopefully recover those tissues. ( put a link to a doctor's site where they answer some basic questions about physio)

You've lived with it for a year, so I wouldn't start freaking out now. Just try to learn as much information as possible, and keep yourself informed.

Good luck!
